A Valentine

It's hard to believe that January is almost gone and Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  I have been working on some challenges at The Sisterhood of Scrap so made a couple of Valentine cards.  I thought I would get a little head start!
This one had to be 5 or more layers.

This one had to have stitching on it so I sewed the beads onto the cardstock.

Something a little different

I am taking part in a few challenges at the Sisterhood of Scrap forum... so thought I'd try something a little different... not too sure I like how it turned out but here it is:

This is my grandmother during her acting on stage years... I wanted something a little different so I painted some paper flowers with some metal paint - first I tried copper but it was so bright and not quite right so I added some Rich Espresso Metallic paint... the color is better but still pretty bright.  Thought I'd post it so you can see what a little paint can do to some really ugly colored flowers!

Today I spent a few hours with Maria crafting and literally making a huge mess punching out 100 butterflies for her schools 100 days of school day!   She was great at making things and after all the butterflies were done, she made a really cute bird:

She is so creative - she added a little blue tail later.

She's Graduating

I find it hard to believe that my first grandchild is going to graduate this year. I still remember that phone call telling us about the pregnancy and how overwhelmed we were... they were so young and so were we! What a joy she brought to us all... so sweet, so funny and above all, so loving. She has made us proud with how she has grown into a independent and caring young woman. Way to go Desiree... the world is lucky to have you in it!

I love this photo of her and made a 10 x 10 layout to frame up for my wall... this one will go alongside some others using this same line of paper from Basic Grey. I love the richness of the colors and how well they work with sepia photos.

Scrapping Again

I was having a little trouble getting inspired but since the rush, rush of the holidays I have just sat myself down and made myself start in on some unfinished projects. I had been making my son, who is heading to 40, with two kids, an album of his school years and some of his younger days. It started out as a gift for his last birthday and then... I put it... away!! Intending, of course, on getting to it as soon as I finished some challenges I was doing on http://www.sisterhoodofscrap.com/! I recently found this amusing letter he wrote when he was in grade 11 and had his driver's license:

It's not the best photo of the layout but here it is anyway!!

The sketches are up!

I am so excited to be the guest designer at http://creativelyyourssketches.blogspot.com/ and I love seeing all the other 'takes' on the main sketch... wow... lots of talented scrappers there!

I am posting my layout here so I have it since my main computer crashed - hopefully it can be fixed:

I guess I should tell Kelly and Maria about this!!
