I WAS making soup...

so, tonight I made a roasted chicken for dinner and thought... hmmm, why not some yummy chicken soup?! So I got it all ready in my favorite pot and put it on to boil while I went to finish a project for Valentines Day... and forgot to turn it down... and forgot it completely!! Until, that is, my husband threw the cat into my room... blurted something about the house being full of smoke and quickly shut the door to my scraproom! So here we sit in the only room with heat on while the rest of the house is airing out... it smells like death out there so I guess I will just have to get finished with this project and start another one!!! (I'll post it soon!)

Oh... and by the way... if anyone is interested the Basic Grey double page layout kits will start in March... I think there is still a couple each month available... !

Oh my precious...

no... not a Lord of the Rings layout.. lol!! Here is great-grandmother, my mother-in-law, with the newest apple on the tree, Alexa! The lighting in this room is a little on the yellowish side... the layout is not so dark in real life... I really must make myself a light box!

I've hoarded this paper (Crate Paper Baby Bee collection) long enough... I just loved it too much to use it but I am trying to turn over a new leaf and use up some of my stash!! (then I can buy some new paper!)

A close up of the flowers I cut out...they are popped up to add some dimension.

DVD Tins... I love them!

These tins are just the perfect size for a small accordian album and they last through lots of little hands that like looking at the mini albums I've been making! Here are some of our latest Christmas photos - I've used some 'sassafrass lass' paper that came in a kit a couple of years ago... I'm a hoarder after all!! I covered a chipboard shape for the front of the tin and added a huge blue, shiny brad for a bit of sparkle!
The tins and brads and lots of different cardstock colors are available from http://www.dragonflyscrapbooking.com/shopping.html although I see the cardstock isn't posted... she has about 100 different colors too so if that's something you can't find online, just call her toll free number and I'm sure she can help you out!

Not Christmas but...

I promised myself that I'd get right on doing my Christmas mini album (in a tin) but then I got inspired by the Sisterhood of Scrap to:
1. do a layout
2. organize my space

So... I finished up the mini album for 2007 and started organizing... that was awhile ago ... and I realized that I am a hoarder... yes ladies... a hoarder! My scrap room/office is packed to the max with stuff... the cupboards are full ... so the organizing is just taking too long! That put me into item 1... so here is a layout I got done this week:

and I'll post a few photos as I organize...maybe that would make a good layout... ha ha ha!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm enjoying having a peek at all of your blogs... but I am supposed to be finishing the organizing of my scrap room!! Remember in the last post how I said I had a space cleared to do some work.... well, I did get that little project done but then I had the great idea to organize all those envelopes of photos left over from all the projects I've done in the last few years... you know the ones... the leftovers that you just can't toss out cause maybe there is another mini book on the horizon!! I started making sections on the floor and soon had a sort of a patchwork mess going on... now it's in some big envelopes and titled so when I get busy creating again I will go through them first before printing yet another copy!! Tomorrow...tomorrow...it's only a day away................ and then I'm getting busy and getting 2009/2010's Christmas scrapped.

Finally!

I've finally gotten a space cleared on my scrap table and done a little scrapping! This DVD tin holds Christmas of 2007... no, I'm not that far behind... 2008 was already done and I was going to do my 2009 photos. As I was going through my paper, I realized that my stack of Christmas paper is still just too high so to buy some BG paper for this years photos was going to be stretching it... so in my sneaky little mind I reasoned... how about going backwards till I can justify some NEW Christmas paper!! (We'll see how long I can hold out...ha ha ha!)

I used a bottle cap, hammered a hole through it and the tin with a big nail and mounted a bell onto some wire to make the center of the flower... then covered my favorite embellishment (chipboard) with some more paper and voila... here it is. I still have a little work to do on the album inside the tin but for the most part, it's done. I figure when I'm a little old lady in a snug little nursing home these will be small enough to come with me... ha ha ha!

It's 2010 !!!!

WOW... what a year! I am so happy to get that one over with...lol... it was not the best year of my life but there were sure great moments. I have had to concentrate on the good times so here's some of my grateful list:

1. I have a great husband and my daughter, Kate is my anchor (I know...it should be the other way around!!).
2. The grandkids are all healthy and still fun and like to come and stay with us.
3. We were blessed with grandchild #5 this year - Alexa is now 4 months old - she came for Christmas with her Mummy, Amber, another blessing for us.
4. Son Chris is working and taking care of his kids.
5. Bruce had a tumor removed along with one of his para thyroid glands - no cancer! Then had surgery to fix his shoulder later in the year and is starting to feel better.
6. My mother-in-law is the greatest... I'm so lucky.
7. I had a great time at the Crop For Kids and am booked for next year at the hotel already!
8. I kept costs down at Christmas and only have a little bit on the credit card!
9. I was on the design team at Sisterhood of Scrap - I love it there - things weren't too good around here at that time so I wasn't as active as I meant to be but the sisters are so kind and made me feel better.
10. I've made lots of scrappy friends.

That's it for now.... here's Alexa...

she just loves sitting up but is not quite able to do it on her own..she is so cute and smiley faced!
And... I have to chase Kate down and get a photo of those travel albums I made her for Christmas... I forgot to do that when they were done... it could have something to do with working all day and through the night to finish up I guess!!!
